Now Debbie Reynolds has passed away. Can we all now agree that something sinister is afoot?

Thanks Trump!

I can’t imagine how horrible this past week must have been for her. I don’t even know what to say.

Still three days left.

This one is that unexpected, as she was old and dealing with a lot of stress.

Nah. Obama still holds it down. He owns this one.

We need to guard Harrison Ford so he doesn’t get that invitation.

She was at her son’s house making funeral arrangements for her daughter. I’d say that she died of a broken heart.

We need to secure all beloved celebrities in a hospital with around the clock monitoring for the next 72 hours.

Yeah, but 24 hours after her daughter died?

Shatner received that invite, but he told death he has other plans involving some spunky female yeoman.

The truth lies here.

No, nothing sinister is afoot, celebrities die every year, it’s just that this year, it’s become fashionable to blame everything on this being suuuuch a horrible year. I’d argue that 2014's list of celebrities who died kicks the shit out of 2016's. If you’re legitimately distraught over these deaths, I’d suggest you see a counselor.

Thanks Obama for letting Trump win!

Although I guess if you wanted to get in to it you could find some blame, maybe.

the thanks obama was a knee jerk reaction. If people could they would blame Obama for the indigestion caused by eating Trump brand steaks that were expired and undercooked in a EZ bake oven. Could be worse though the civil engineers are jokingly enthusiastic about building THE WALL.

I had a discussion with someone at a rehearsal tonight about just this idea, even before we knew that Reynolds had died. I’m not sure that 2016 is any worse than any other year. But I think something else is at work here. And it’s not sinister. We are currently in a time of great doubt, upheaval, political strife, world tension, etc. At times like these, we retreat to the things that make us comfortable, signs of normalcy in a crazy world. But these things, particularly those people we thought would be around forever, are being taken away from us at a time when we need them most. It makes us all feel that much more helpless when the world is swirling out of our control.

2014 was truly a sinister year, worthy of being distraught over.

If people want 2016 to ‘stahp’, does that mean they would like to remain in 2016 thus allowing the year to claim more victims?
![]() 12/29/2016 at 09:57 |
|
No, it’s a trap; spread them around!

We’re just hypersensitive to it right now with everything going on. That, or the devil is calling in all his contracts.

nah...
we’re just getting old. and we know who more these celebrity deaths were.
i mean...
i was alive (barely) in 1984 when peter lawford died. but i sure as hell didn’t blame it on “the year,” when his name came up on the “in memory” roll during the academy awards.
mostly because i didn’t watch the academy awards when i was a todler, but also because i didn’t know who he was.

besides the celebrity deaths, what else are we using as support for 2016 being a horrible year?
hamilton didn’t win the championship, so it couldn’t have been that bad.
